I should be adding more photos to the website in the next few days, I’ve been waiting for our beautiful tiger snails (Achatina achatina) to grow up - we have a group of wild coloured and a group of albino, It’s been quite a while since we’ve had these so I’m looking forward to baby tigers next year.
We have been growing on a group of Cryptozona siamansis for the last few months and I’m pleased to say that they have settled in easily & are growing nicely, hopefully we’ll have some eggs laid soon. Visit our Ariophantidae page for more details.
After a hectic few months feeding, raising & separating caterpillars (some of them can be quite cannibalistic) I've finally finished taking enough photos to publish our new pages: Hawk Moths & Other Moths
I used to raise moths & butterflies as a child & now it's nice to see that our children are enjoying it too, admittedly some of the smaller moths have been quite a challenge as the eggs & larvae are so small but as we increase the caterpillar food plants in our garden, we hope to increase our caterpillar selection a lot over the next few years. This year we may not have any pupa available but we should have lots of eggs ready in the spring / summer next year. Please Note: I do not reserve eggs or do a pre-order service as there is so much that can go wrong over the winter and we only offer eggs / larvae that we have bred ourselves. I have been busy taking photos and helping the kids raise some new inverts but hopefully I’ll be able to publish our new page
within the next few days. Initially it was only going to be one page but we’ve been far more successful with our breeding than I had thought possible so I’ve decided to split it into two separate pages, one to be published in the next few days and the other in the autumn. I often get asked what eggs are due to hatch or if we have certain species that will be ready soon so every Wednesday I shall post an update here with details of new eggs, babies or any new inverts that we will have coming up in the near future.
For this week, we have various sized Archachatina marginata Icteria & Pleurodonte excellens available from unrelated parent groups so if you are buying more than one snail from those two species, I shall automatically send unrelated ones. I’m still updating our phasmids page and have a few more species to put up on the website but should have some sexed pairs of Pterulina distinctissima ‘Kon Chu Rang’ available in the next week or so. |
