Phasmid Care - how we keep ours

We keep most of our phasmids at around 22*C

All of our phasmids have been sourced from experienced breeders in the U.K and Europe and have originated from the locations stated. We do not mix stock from different locations.
All of our breeding groups consist of both males and females.

Our phasmids are all kept in separate net cages with a puppy training liner or ‘blue roll’ in the bottom & have a small plant saucer containing water gel crystals, most of our species will find & use the water dish.

Some phasmids need more humidity than others, for these I use a clear plastic bin liner over the cage with the front end left open.

A cardboard egg box (upside down with the front flap taken off) makes a perfect cave for the Pseudophasma & Autolyca to hide in.

The floor  is sprayed with water every evening to help with humidity.

We do not spray the phasmids themselves & only spray the food plant before we add it to the cage.

Most of the eggs are collected once a month and placed in hatching cups with approx 2 - 3cm of damp vermiculite, these are then moved to the cooler end of the bug room to be kept at around 22 - 24*C until hatching.

Hatchlings are then usually placed in plastic tubs with an air vent in the lid to give them some ventilation but keeping a higher level of humidity until after their 1st or 2nd moult depending on species, then they are moved to a larger net cage.

This page is only to tell you how we keep ours, there is lots of information out there & everyone does things differently.
